It is an offence if a player:
deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball
touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised
Og hands ble spesifikt tatt opp før denne sesongen hvor alle klubber fikk beskjed om at det ville blitt gitt færre hands:
On other handballs, referees' chief Howard Webb accepts there were instances last season where players were penalised even when their hand or arm was in a justifiable position for the action being undertaken, and wants that to stop.
Så vil hands alltid være et spørsmål om skjønn. I denne sammenhengen tror jeg alle kan være enige om at han ikke med vilje stopper ballen med handa, men gjør han kroppen unaturlig stor? Definitivt ikke slik det blir sagt over at det er opplagt.
Så forstår jeg også frustrasjonen. For noen år siden får Dier straffe i mot for at en ball treffer hånda hans på ryggen. Den gang var alt hands. Og nå er man plutselig litt tilbake til 90-tallet hvor veldig lite er det. Men - det er tydelig sagt at vi skal tilbake til 90-tallet og da er det på igjen måte klart at dette skal dømmes hands.
